Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

I am mother to two young adults in their mid to late 20's. I work in the medical field as an admin officer/personal assistant. I look forward to the day when I can spend heaps more time taking and making photographs. However, for now, the bills have to be paid. I married a jazz musician many, many years ago. My adopted home is Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. I am originally from North Queensland... a tropical place!

I just felt in need of a country photo today so here is one of weeping willows at Bruthen. These trees are considered a pest in the Gippsland and are being systematically erradicated. I met a guy in Bruthen whose job is to travel the countryside getting rid of willows. Where I came from in the tropics of Australia, weeping willows don't grow. When I first saw these trees I fell in love with them. It was therefore a great shock to me to discover they are a pest to farmers and environmentalists. I must admit ... I still love them!

In the first house my parents bought, we had a huge willow in the back yard. It took up almost the whole back yard. Playing under those weeping, long branches was my brother's and my favorite thing to do in the summer. After the divorce, Mom hated having to be the one to keep the branches trimmed, and they sometimes would reach all the way to the ground between trimmings. That was too much fun. A few years after we moved out, the new owners had the tree cut down. The roots had broken up through the garage floor and they were worried that damage to the basement would follow.
