I'm feeling a bit grey tonight so thought these two images might reflect my mood somewhat. They were both taken in Cairns in October 2006, very early one morning. My sister-in-law convinced me it would be good to go for an early morning walk along the Cairns foreshore before breakfast one morning. As we turned to retrace our steps, the first image met my eyes. The second image is of fish sculptures/fountains that are located in a lagoon near the marina. Both photos look dark and forbidding to me. Mind you, the day did become bright and warm with a temperature in the 30 degree Celisus range ... muggy and hot.

Today started quite late after a long sleep-in. A bit of Christmas shopping then off to my workplace to hang some of my photos on a gallery wall ... with the help of my daughter. After my daughter bought herself a new mobile phone, we went to vote in today State election, then had a quick bite to eat before spending some time in the garden nurturing my plants and my soul. I always feel so much more peaceful when I've spent time working in my garden. The recent hot Melbourne weather has knocked my roses about but today's image was taken a few weeks ago. This image is of one of my favourite roses. I hope you enjoy it.

When I was in north Queensland recently with my adult children, we visited my sister and her family in Townsville for a couple of days. These images are of Ceasar who is a pedigree Rottweiler (spelling?) and only one of two monsterous dogs they have. The other is a Great Dane/Pit Bull cross called Austin, or Ozzie for short. Ceasar is addicted to water and swimming. The second photo shows him not so patiently waiting to be allowed to go swimming. The first photo shows him at full stretch jumping into the pool. This dog swam for hours. He would jump in, swim around, get out and jump in again ... over and over. He made me dizzy watching him. I'm sure it beats taking him for a walk to keep him fit! Both Ceasar and Ozzie are fantastic dogs and made us part of their family as soon as they met us for which we were very thankful.

Life has been good and not so good for me over the last few days. Last Saturday (18th November 2006) I had my first photo exhibition at a local church fete. After being warned that I would probably not sell anything, I sold four photos. I was over the moon. The professional photographer who hung my photos did an excellent job and the photos looked fantastic. Then, later that day my left hand/wrist started to give me pain. The next day it was worse so I took myself off to the hospital to be told I had tendonitis in my wrist. This meant restriction of the wrist and hand and two days off work doing NOTHING. How boring is doing nothing! However I am back at work today typing one-handed and very slowly.

The photos of the pink poppy put up for today were taken in August at my friend's place in the country. I just love the colour of this flower and am, as always for all flowers, amazed at the construction of this flower. I hope you enjoy.

I am amazed that it is already Thursday!! Where did the week go? I have had my head down and tail up organising 16 photos for a photo exhibition at a local church fete this Saturday. This is my first public appearance with my photos and I am both excited and scared senseless. :-) The photos look great but the framing job, if examined closely, would be found wanting. It's not too bad ... just not professional. Mmmmm, perhaps a framing course will be the next course I undertake!

As my camera is probably just now being sent to Canon for repair (I hope), there won't be any new photos from me for a while so photos today and in the immediate future will be from my stockpile. The image today is of a giant 'sculpture' on the side of the Melbourne tollway for which a common name is "the big zipper". The image was taken from my car during morning peak-hour about 4 or so weeks ago (time moves too quickly for me). Now we are back to grey skies and hail storms and winter temperatures! Go figure. Enjoy.

I am a very sad cookie today ... these images come from the latest photo shoot I did using my Canon 10D. It has totally collapsed on me. I have to take it in tomorrow to get a quote for repairs but I am sure it will be fairly expensive. Sigh!

I have tried to take photos of bees many times before but have found them to be fairly elusive. Yesterday however, these flowers were covered in bees so I couldn't miss. These are some of the better shots I managed inbetween my camera working and not working!

Portrait day today. Photos of my brother-in-law, Darryl who has had severe trials in his life but still manages a smile ... for his granddaughter and then a cheeky one for me when he caught the camera pointed his way. What a wonderful face!

Hello Everyone. It's been a rough couple of weeks for me because my dad died last week after a short period of having lukemia. He was told on a Tuesday that he was 'terminal' and he died the following Monday... quickly, just the way he wanted to go. My children and I reached Cairns 3 days before he died so we had time to bid him farewell, for which I am very grateful.

While I was visiting with my mum on the Atherton Tablelands I visited with some friends who had these beautiful water lilies in their front yard pond. The last image was edited at the suggestion of my husband who thought a black background would highlight the flower. I think he's right. Enjoy!
